FIRE UPDATE 8/15/2018

 The Southern California Incident Management Team 3, a “Type 2” national team, is managing the Monument and
Wigwam fires for full suppression. Crews are being assigned to structure protection and evaluating locations for
direct suppression efforts. Contingency lines are being scouted with crews assigned today to structure protection and
evaluating locations for direct suppression efforts and contingency lines. The Incident Command post is being
established at the Ennis Fairground. Four helicopters are currently assigned to incident and operating out of the Ennis
Airport. Additional crews and equipment are on order.
The fires are located south and west of Ennis, MT in very rough mountainous terrain, in the 9,000-foot elevation
range, within the Gravelly Range Mountains south of Ennis, Montana. The fires are burning in whitebark pine and
sub-alpine fir, with approximately 70% standing dead timber from bug kill and other natural conditions.

Evacuations-Haypress Lakes area was evacuated August 12. The Red Cross has been placed on standby at this
time and will be reactivated if needed. An Evacuation Order from the Haypress Lakes gate southwest to the forest
border. From the gate northeast the remainder of Shinning Mountains subdivision is under an Evacuation Warning.
Area Closures-closures are being handled by multiple agencies, including United States Forest Service and Bureau
of Land Management are in effect for the Gravelly Range Mountains. You can find information about these closures
